Statistics show that smoke alarm devices save lives. Seventy percent of fires occur at home during the night. Of the victims, 95% die from smoke inhalation and rarely ever from the fire itself. The newest smoke alarm device model from the security specialist ABUS provides the optimal solution for a networked and secure alarm in the event of a fire: the ABUS RWM500 wireless smoke/heat detector. It has an increased wireless range based on intelligent technology and two permanently integrated batteries that last 12 years.

With the ABUS RWM500 wireless smoke/heat detector, which is manufactured in Germany and Q-Kriwan-certified, ABUS presents an exclusive early warning system for optimal fire safety. The model is fitted with a special bi-sensor processor technology that both provides optical smoke detection and also detects increased temperature changes at the same time, therefore providing even more effective and early detection of smouldering fires. Furthermore, the ABUS RWM500 can monitor two fire characteristics: smoke typical of fires and a sudden increase in temperature. The detection of one of these fire characteristics is sufficient for an alarm. The ABUS RWM500 is ideal for use in bedrooms, hallways, kitchens and even small businesses with low levels of fine dust and exhaust and low temperature fluctuations.

Wireless networking for enhanced security

A product feature is the option of wirelessly networking devices with each other. Similarly to amplifiers, the detectors function in a wireless network of up to 400 metres in range (free field). Each detector activates all detectors in its range, which then activate all detectors in their range.

The ABUS RWM500 can therefore be used to create wireless groups with up to 15 different networked devices (e.g. within flats), which can then be integrated in up to 14 networks (e.g. in the stairwell). These groups are practical, for example, for the operation of wirelessly networked smoke detectors in blocks of flats.

An alarm and muting concept provides for manual commissioning and prevention of possible false alarms (e.g. if lots of steam is expected in the kitchen). Simply pressing the test key deactivates or activates the corresponding detector for ten minutes within the wireless group.

Tool-free installation is simple, quick and safe thanks to an adhesive pad

Thanks to simple adhesive mounting through the modern magnetic gel-adhesive pad technology, the ABUS RWM500 wireless smoke/heat detector can be quickly mounted and ready to use. A removable insect catch increases the service life and supports simple, thorough cleaning, which should be carried out at regular intervals and is prescribed as a maintenance measure in DIN 14676.
