ComNet, Communication Networks of Danbury, Connecticut, a leading manufacturer of fiber optic transmission and networking equipment, has expanded its Ethernet product line by introducing a 1000FX fiber optic media converter with Power over Ethernet (PoE). The CNGE2MCPOE provides a PoE function to those POE compatible peripheral devices. This device supports the latest IEEE 802.3at PoE standard for use for as Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE), supplying up to 25 Watts of power. Designed for use in harsh environments, these products allow 10/100/1000TX Ethernet data to be transmitted optically over either multimode or single mode optical fiber, by application-specific, optional SFP modules.
According to Andrew Acquarulo Jr., ComNet President and COO, "Power over Ethernet is becoming a very desirable feature. Throughout the market we are seeing more and more devices such as IP cameras and other peripheral devices that are POE powered. With this feature, and with the desire of many users to exceed the existing 100 meter transmission distance limitation of CAT-5e cabling, ComNet now offers a PoE solution where the transmission distance may be significantly extended, with no loss of bandwidth. The ComNet CNGE2MCPOE solves this challenge."
"With the introduction of the CNGE2MCPOE media converter, we round out our PoE offering and solve a multitude of challenges our customers face," said Skip Haight, ComNet VP of Marketing. "The new products we're introducing are the result of the transition to Ethernet and of ComNet proactively providing solutions to these new challenges. The added value ComNet provides is the customer-care experience we offer. ComNet is a complete full-service company and not just a product line. From the initial contact forward, our customers will be delighted by how great the overall experience is," Haight continued.
ComNet offers an extensive line of fiber optic video and data transmission equipment as well as a line of Ethernet Network equipment that is uniquely toughened to meet the needs of the Security and Intelligent Transportation System market.
