Columbia is under the City Wide Surveillance Programme thanks to CNL Software
CNL Software, a world leader in Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) software, has been selected to provide the integration and information management platform for the District of Columbia under their City Wide Surveillance Programme. CNL Software is in the process of deploying the largest Safe City PSIM solution in the United States, securing nearly 5.6 million people in the Washington metropolitan area on a daily basis.

The integration program creates a unified and central interface where situational awareness and monitoring requirements of multiple agencies within the District of Columbia can be managed and processed. Over 5,000 CCTV cameras are operated by multiple District agencies. Over the years, each agency has developed its own video control solution to fit its own requirements, with different applications, manufacturers, and control centres. The capability to share video data is critical during extraneous circumstances that require situational awareness above and beyond that of daily operations. Bringing together these various and separate resources onto one platform will ultimately improve emergency preparedness and response.

The solution provided by CNL Software will be one of the most advanced situational awareness systems in use today. CNL's IPSecurityCenter™ will provide the integration and management platform to bring together systems from manufacturers including Cisco, Pelco, GE, Dedicated Micros, Bosch, ActiVu, DMP and ShotSpotter. Intelligence will be aggregated by IPSecurityCenter™ from all of these systems to deliver complete situation management capabilities.

Matthew Kushner, CNL President, of Americas says "After an intensive technical shootout, we are delighted that IPSecurityCenter™ has been selected for this pivotal programme. Over the last decade Homeland Defense has become a critical component to ensuring the safety of each and every citizen. We are working with manufacturers to push the boundaries of what is possible within public safety solutions."

"There have been two major barriers to achieving effective multi agency solutions, one has been the number of agencies involved, the other the number of disparate systems they employ. Programmes like the Districts Safe City initiative are tackling the first issue, and partnerships between integrators like Diebold and PSIM vendors like CNL are overcoming all of the technical restrictions involved."

"We look forward to the planned expansion of this Safe City deployment."
