Santander selected QNAP VioStor 2012 Pro NVR

The department of Santander, Colombia, chose QNAP Security’s network video recording solution for public monitoring. Located north of Colombia’s capital Bogota, Santander is known for picturesque mountains, pristine rivers and paragliding. Local authorities wanted to monitor crime and keep citizens safe.

Legal mandates required recorded videos to be stored for at least 180 days. The department of Santander needed a high-quality network video recording solution with reliable performance.

Solution

The ability to provide good video recordings is essential. The reliability and security of the recorded videos were top reasons Santander chose the QNAP NVR solution-the VioStor 2012 Pro.

Operators needed a way to pull up video fast. The smart search functionality from the QNAP VioStor 2012 Pro NVR made it easy to locate images from months of footage.

“Support for major network camera brands makes QNAP NVRs one of the most open storage platforms available,” said Jose Palacio from the turnkey consultant Gabasip. Seven Samsung network cameras and a Samsung dome were placed throughout Santander on light poles. Wireless transmission from Ubiquiti effortlessly sent video to the QNAP VioStor 2012 Pro, ensuring operators did not miss a thing.

Result

The all-IP video solution proved itself by saving time and money. “Video management improved 60 percent for handling,” Palacio said. QNAP’s reliability required 10 percent less maintenance, increasing operational efficiency.

The department of Santander plans to add more cameras and storage in the future. QNAP makes it a scalable solution ready for future expansion.
