Honouring a 232-year reputation for quality, the award-winning Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia has deployed a state-of-the-art Pelco IP-based video surveillance system in its new Casino Club gaming facility. Designed and built by North American Video (NAV) and M. Malia and Associates (MMA), the video surveillance system features approximately 400 cameras installed in a building designated as a National Historic Landmark.
"The design/build for The Greenbrier was unique because we needed to utilise parts of the building's historical infrastructure and architecture while fulfilling the requirement for a full-featured IP solution utilising an intelligent approach to managing the system," said Laurie Jackson, Vice President, Gaming Sales, North American Video. "NAV's reputation and experience in designing IP video system solutions and our extensive knowledge of gaming surveillance requirements positioned us as an ideal choice to implement the project."
The IP cameras, a mixture of megapixel and high resolution imaging technologies, are integrated with a powerful recording structure to ensure all available storage is symmetrically utilised. Management software offers flexible, customised formats as well as optimised functionalities for the megapixel cameras. Work on the design/build was completed within an aggressive time frame to meet the July grand opening and was commissioned through Clancy and Theys General Contractors.
"The video surveillance system at the new Casino Club presented unique design and installation challenges given our objective to preserve the building's architectural beauty and integrity while implementing sophisticated IP-based surveillance capabilities," said Angela O'Neill, Director of Surveillance at The Greenbrier. "MMA and NAV did a tremendous job working around the physical constraints of the facility and delivered a video surveillance system that provides the detailed coverage, control and archiving capabilities we wanted without any compromises."
The Casino Club features an elegant gaming area and the underground complex is discreetly located beneath the front entrance green space. Unlike other gaming facilities, the Casino Club is open only to overnight resort guests and members of The Greenbrier Sporting Club and The Greenbrier Golf & Tennis Club.
