Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council recently relocated their monitoring of a large 3-storey building site to their central monitoring station just over half a mile away.  This resulted in the existing detection system becoming redundant.  The Council required a cost effective solution that would accurately monitor activity around the site to stop any anti-social behavior or criminal activity late at night.

WRS Electronic Security Solutions Ltd based in South Yorkshire were contacted to specify and install the new system for the buildings.  Shaun Beverly, Engineering Project Manager for WRS commented: "QED's Genesis system was the clear choice for us.  We have installed it on several previous sites and knew it was a wire free solution that we trusted to fulfil the required application."   Shaun continued: "QED's Genesis system was the most cost effective solution for this job as it required no expensive civil work and allowed us to install the job in a fraction of the time it would have taken with a standard wired system."

In all 10 Genesis Wireless heads were used on the buildings with the option to expand up to 64 if required.  All signals from the heads are collected in one central point and then all alarms transmitted over half a mile, through built up areas, to the central police station where they are monitored.

A control panel with 10 L.E.D's indicating the status of each detector.  These change color from green to red when activated.  During the day the system runs silent however during active periods the alarm panel sounds and continues to do so until the alarm is checked and cleared by an operator.

The system is a vandal resistant option making it as safe as possible with the heads being anti-tamper, anti-cloak and having a shock sensor built in.  The heads also remain accurate through day/night and seasons due to their temperature compensation technology.
