De Fina also made his mark at several other companies, including Samsung-Techwin, SightLogix, and Hikvision

Frank De Fina, a security executive whose career spanned more than two decades at Panasonic, died suddenly over the weekend. Since leaving Panasonic in 2008, De Fina also made his mark at several other companies, including security industry players Samsung-Techwin, SightLogix, and Hikvision, where he was employed at his death.

26 years at Panasonic

A statement from Jeffrey He, president of Hikvision USA and Canada, reads as follows: “It is with deep regret that I inform you that Frank De Fina passed away over the weekend. Each of us not only grieves at the passing of a tremendous individual but also for the loss his family suffers. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family members.”

De Fina worked for 26 years at Panasonic, where he was president/COO of Panasonic System Solutions Company when he left the company in March 2008. During a two-year hiatus from the security industry, he worked as vice-president global sales and marketing for Paul Reed Smith Guitars Ltd., a reflection of his love of music.

Building sales infrastructure

De Fina’s next industry job was as executive vice president of Samsung-Techwin America, where he was instrumental in building the sales infrastructure and raising awareness of the Samsung brand in the U.S. security marketplace. After leaving Samsung in 2014, he worked for a year as executive vice president of SightLogix, a thermal analytics company, before joining Hikvision, where he was senior director of Hikvision USA and Hikvision Canada at the time of his death.

He was also a member of the executive board of the Security Industry Association (SIA).

The statement from Jeffrey He continues: “Frank had several causes he deeply believed in and the company will be making contributions to those organisations. Should you desire to send condolences to Frank’s family, please send them to Alex Asnovich [Hikvision head of marketing, director North America] and they will be passed along to his family.”
