The SALTO system incorporates proximity Mifare operation, anti-vandal protection and can support up to 64,000 users

World leaders meeting for the annual G8 Summit in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, are using access control technology from SALTO Systems.

Lough Erne Golf Resort is where leaders from Britain, USA, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, and the EU are meeting  to discuss major global economic, political, and security challenges, including energy and climate change, food security and nutrition, Afghanistan’s economic transition and transitions taking place across the Middle East and North Africa, most notably the situation in Syria.

Set on a peninsula with panoramic views from almost every vantage point, the 600-acre Lough Erne Golf Resort is the ultimate expression in old world heritage and new world luxury. Its two championship golf courses are set on the shores of Lower Lough Erne and Castle Hume Lough.

The resort is designed with luxury and comfort in mind, and accommodation comprises 120 guest rooms made up of 53 hotel bedrooms, two Deluxe Suites, two Lakeview Suites and two Courtyard Suites and 25 Luxury Lodges each exuding an elegant country house style.  Fourteen of the lodges offer two bedrooms – 10 of which are a striking turret design – and 11 lodges offer three bedroom accommodation. Other facilities at the resort include a world-class restaurant, relaxing bar, library, drawing rooms and an authentic Thai Spa.

“With an established track record of providing secure access control for several luxury hotels in Ireland and many others around the world, the SALTO solution provides outstanding security for Lough Erne Golf Resort" comments Kieran Gorey of Ambar Systems Ltd, the local SALTO certificated partner that carried out the installation.

"Working in consultation with SALTO we have provided a highly secure and flexible access control system to meet all of the needs of the resort"

"Working in consultation with SALTO we have provided a highly secure and flexible access control system to meet all of the needs of the resort. Access is currently controlled to 85 bedroom doors in the main hotel and to 25 external lodges. The advanced system design incorporates proximity Mifare operation, anti-vandal protection and each lock can support up to 64,000 users.”

“To have done this with fully on line doors as part of a fully hard wired solution would have been prohibitively expensive, but with the architect and client opting to use our stand alone locks which ensure the highest levels of security, they will achieve 90% of the benefits of a fully on line access control system for just the cost of a standalone solution” Gorey continues.

“Hotel security was an important part of this project from the outset” says Patricia Donohoe of Lough Erne Golf Resort. “We needed an efficient, easy to use system that is flexible enough to grow to meet our future security requirements and that’s exactly what we’ve got with our SALTO access control solution. It gives us the ability to cancel key cards from the system when guests leave, loose or do not return them and this enables us to maintain high levels of security ensuring a secure and accessible environment for both guests and staff alike.”
