Two types of Full-HD cameras from Sony’s E-Series line-up were selected for the installation at Dartford Grammar
Background

When it built its new Sixth Form Building, Dartford Grammar required a robust video security system which would offer the highest quality surveillance and monitoring throughout the premises. It was also vital that the system was easy to operate and integrates seamlessly with its existing video security solution.

Challenges

Education environments require sensitive security solutions, which offer the best quality images and coverage without intruding on students and teachers. Furthermore, Dartford Grammar school had to install a security solution which can be integrated with the existing system and was simple to operate. In order to achieve the best security solution in terms of clear visibility and flexible management, the school, which currently uses an analogue system throughout the rest of the school buildings, was using the Sixth Form building’s new system as a test bed for a wider IP-based roll-out. The installation is a step into the future for the school, as it continues to improve and evolve its technology deployment.

Sony solution

A Sony IP-based security solution was chosen integrating a combination of models from its E-Series of cameras with Sony’s Scalable Management Software, which enables simple management of large networks of cameras with web client capability.

Two types of Full-HD cameras from Sony’s E-Series line-up were selected for the installation at Dartford Grammar, which comprises 16x SNC-DH120 indoor Full-HD mini-dome cameras and 7x SNC-CH160 outdoor Full-HD bullet cameras.

Results

Sony network cameras include Day/Night functionality which ensures consistently footage regardless of the time of day. Also Sony’s unique Distributed Enhanced Processing Architecture (DEPA) ensures efficient data processing which contributes to a smoother running security operation in the school, while the Exmor™ CMOS sensors guarantee sharp pictures. These technologies work together to provide easy to review, high quality film content in every lighting condition, whether inside the classroom block or in the surrounding area.
