Avigilon HD Surveillance System was deployed by San Diego Metropolitan Transit System |
Avigilon, the performance and value leader in high definition (HD) and megapixel video surveillance solutions, recently announced that the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (SDMTS) has deployed the Avigilon HD Surveillance System at several of its transit stations to assist with passenger safety, protect critical assets, and comply with industry regulations. The Avigilon HD Surveillance System was chosen for its superior performance, reliability, image quality, and advanced management features.
"After reviewing our options, it became clear early on that Avigilon was a good fit for our purposes and could address our requirements for reliability, ease-of-use, and image quality," said Larry Savoy, assistant director of security and code compliance at SDMTS. "With its advanced video search capabilities, the Avigilon HD Surveillance System has played a key role in our ability to resolve conflicts and prevent criminal activity across our transit system."
SDMTS installed a mix of Avigilon 5 MP, 8 MP, and 11 MP HD cameras to monitor platforms and parking lots at several transit stations along with several Avigilon Analog Video Encoders to boost the performance of its existing analog-based cameras. Security personnel manage the Avigilon HD Surveillance System using Avigilon Control Center Enterprise Network Video Management Software (NVMS) with High Definition Stream Management (HDSM) and monitor the system around the clock. SDMTS stores 15 days of continuous surveillance video on existing servers.
Leveraging the advanced features of Avigilon Control Center NVMS, SDMTS can quickly and easily review footage of an event and zoom in to analyse detailed regions of interest to improve the quality and speed of their investigations. SDMTS also required fewer Avigilon HD cameras to achieve greater coverage, reducing installation, maintenance, and replacement costs. SDMTS has also been able to resolve false liability claims with greater accuracy. For SDMTS, the Avigilon HD Surveillance System has become a strategic component of its security initiative to help meet strict industry requirements and has become the standard for surveillance solutions moving forward.
"Video surveillance is especially critical for commuter transit systems that are used by thousands of passengers every day and run on very tight schedules," said Keith Marett, director of marketing and communications at Avigilon. "By deploying advanced security solutions like the Avigilon HD Surveillance System, the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System can confidently help protect passengers and assets from potential harm."
