Linear completed its 50 years of corporate excellence in 2011 marking innovative technologies in security

Linear LLC, a world leader in Access Control, Security, Music/Intercoms, Audio/Video/Data, PERS Systems, and Central Vacuum systems for residential and commercial customers, celebrated 50 years in business in 2011. Linear has been a leading designer and manufacturer for decades, introducing innovative, reliable and easy-to-use products.

The company, a pioneer in the development of radio frequency (RF) products, was co-founded by two engineers in 1961. President Dan Stottlemyre says Linear has stayed true to its roots in bringing high-technology, innovative products to market, and providing the best customer service in the business. "We remain a stable and trusted partner for our customers, and are constantly innovating to adapt to changing market conditions by growing our technology base," he states.

The company has experienced exponential growth since its founding, both organically and via acquisition. Among its notable technical achievements are:

  • The first RF link (plus first in digital and supervised RF links) for use in the security industry
  • Inventor of the PIR-based security lighting product
  • Developing the award-winning SENTRY package
  • Among first companies to design Personal Emergency Response Systems for transmitting medical emergencies, and inventor of the award-winning PERS pendant
  • Instrumental in the development of the digital communicator via our SESCOA division
  • The first wireless, multi-million code transmission format for the security industry

"Our focus will continue to be on innovating to meet the ever-changing needs of the marketplace," says Stottlemyre

Stottlemyre, who has been with the company for nearly half of its existence, says that much of the company's success is directly attributable to the loyalty of its customers and employees. "We make a conscious effort to dedicate ourselves to the needs of our dealers and distributors, and customers recognise the value we bring to the marketplace," he notes. From a product perspective, that dedication is exemplified in easy to install components, integrated systems and good-better-best solutions. For customers, that translates to effective, simplified solutions for new installations and retrofits.

Longevity has also been cultivated in its relationships. "We hold ourselves to very high ethical standards, and place a great deal of value on our relationships with everyone we come in contact with," he says, adding that each of Linear's 1,730 employees is substantive to delivering a positive customer experience. Linear's sales force, for example, is frequently lauded by customers in many of the industries it serves for attentive and rapid service.

Customer trust in Linear and its brands, as well as product diversity, has made the company stable through many up and down periods proof, says Stottlemyre, "that we bring tangible and measurable value to the markets we serve."

Linear's approach to the next 50 years will be guided by the same winning formula it has had in place since 1961. "Our focus will continue to be on innovating to meet the ever-changing needs of the marketplace," Stottlemyre says. "Our unswerving dedication to customer service, technical support and providing the best customer experience possible will serve us well, as it always has."
