Axis network cameras are a key part of a solution to improve on-board security for NSB's rail passengers and personnel. Camera installations will begin in spring 2008 with all cameras installed by mid-2010. Two Axis network cameras have been chosen; the AXIS 209FD-R will be used for surveillance within the carriages, with the AXIS 221 for use at the front and rear of the train.
Designed specifically for transport applications, the AXIS 209FD-R network camera has attracted high levels of interest from the sector since its introduction in 2006. Measuring just four centimetres high, the AXIS 209FD-R network camera is easy to install within an inner ceiling or on walls. The camera delivers detailed images so that individuals and objects of interest can be easily identified. The AXIS 209FD-R is also equipped with Power over Ethernet and can use the same Ethernet cable to supply power and deliver image data, which makes installation fast and cost efficient.
The AXIS 221 network camera is a high performance day and night camera for round-the-clock surveillance, providing high quality images under all lighting conditions. It is suited to both indoor and outdoor applications and also features Power over Ethernet.
Bjørn Bekkevold, president, ESP Group, commented: "It has been a pleasure to cooperate with Axis on this system solution with NSB. With this system onboard, both passengers and the employees will gain increased security when they travel and work. This is something that I place a high value on as a passenger."
Steve Gorski, managing director, Axis Communications (UK) Ltd, commented: "This order with NSB demonstrates the recognition that the Axis 209FD-R has received in the transportation sector. The product ticks all the right boxes for a transport solution, it is a compact, durable and easy to install unit that offers images that can be used to identify individuals. We believe this product will achieve further momentum in the sector. "
