Honeywell announced the addition of a low-cost embedded digital video recorder (DVR) to its Performance Series line, which is an entire DVR portfolio offering a selection of DVRs to fulfill virtually any surveillance requirement - allowing users to choose from a variety of recording solutions that fit both their needs and their budgets.
The new entry-level HREP DVR is economically priced and offers clear, crisp video using H.264 video compression on 4, 8, or 16 channels. The low cost of the HREP DVR makes it ideal for traditional commercial deployments that require an entry level recording solution as well as residential surveillance applications.
"The fact that the HREP DVR is competitively priced means it can easily rival the low cost alternatives on the market today," said Bill Durno, product manager for Honeywell Systems. "In addition to the cost savings, it offers users the benefits of web-based remote access typically found in more expensive models," he said.
Simple to install and set up via a user-friendly USB mouse or IR remote control, the HREP DVR requires minimal user training. Offering web-based access and removing the need for any desktop software, the HREP DVR provides end users with the peace of mind associated with being able to quickly check their business or residential sites remotely using any PC connected to the Internet, or using its mobile app that allows users to view live video on their Apple® mobile device. Instead of using a computer in order to bring up a GUI or web browser where they can dial in, the functionality is completely mobile. "Today, almost everyone carries a wireless device of some sort," said Durno. "This new app allows anyone with an HREP DVR, Internet connectivity, and an iPhone® or iPod touch® device to see their office or home anytime, anywhere within the coverage area for their mobile device."
The HREP is currently available in North America and European markets.
