The security solution includes cameras, video analytics and a perimeter intruder detection system

Honeywell announced recently that it is working with London Underground to improve intruder detection and security through the provision of a multi-site, centrally controlled electronic security solution.

Following a rigorous tender process, London Underground awarded Honeywell Building Solutions the contract to design, supply and install an electronic security system at a number of sites across the capital. The solution includes cameras, video analytics and a perimeter intruder detection system. All the systems are integrated via Honeywell’s Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI) and Digital Video Manager (DVM).

DVM is a scalable, digital CCTV solution that delivers advanced user security features, providing a high-level of control over the recording and retrieval process while enabling the straightforward monitoring and control of the surveillance process itself.

“The combined Honeywell EBI and DVM solution will facilitate site-wide monitoring of the CCTV and alarm system, giving London Underground greater awareness of threats. It will also enable uniform management of incidents and deliver high quality evidential proof that can be handed over to the British Transport Police,” says HBS Project Manager, Lee Merryweather.

The project is due for completion later this year, after which additional sites and services such as access control will be integrated into the network.
