Vemotion with Synectics to integrate its video and streaming solutions with the Synergy command and control platform

Wireless transmission technology specialist Vemotion has announced a key strategic alliance with a major global security brand. The Thirsk-based security group is working with Synectics to integrate its video and streaming solutions with the Synergy command and control platform. Synectics and Vemotion first came together on a project for Wakefield Council and it became clear to both parties that it would make a lot of sense to integrate their products to the mutual advantage of both.

Vemotion, Synectics collaboration

“We are proud to be working in partnership with a globally recognised brand like Synectics,” said Stewart McCone, CEO of Vemotion. “Integration with Synergy allowed Wakefield Council to benefit from the best of both worlds in terms of our wireless know-how and Synectics best in class platform. Such partnerships are very much and we are looking forward to working with Synectics on several new projects.”

Wakefield council is one of the first to benefit from the Vemotion Synergy collaboration, which provided them with great flexibility. It identified hot spot areas not covered by the existing fibre network and used Vemotion to facilitate wireless rapid deployment in these target locations, with transmissions feeding directly into the Synergy platform.

“We know how important flexibility and interoperability are to our customers and are pleased to add integration with Vemotion’s advanced cellular technology to our portfolio,” said David Aindow, Product and Technology Director at Synectics. “Re-deployable cameras that can be moved to address ‘hot spot’ problem areas are increasingly viable solutions, as is the ability to view footage from remote locations and mobile deployments and working together, Vemotion and Synetics can offer a compelling solution.”

Security challenges faced by Wakefield council

In Wakefield, the council faced increasing antisocial behaviour incidents in outlying, smaller, town centres not covered by existing CCTV fibre networks; they turned to Vemotion to provide a rapid deployment solution and Synectics for platform. “Wakefield is faced with the classic modern day safety and security challenges of a large, metropolitan area,” added Stewart. “With increasing scrutiny on resource allocation, managers need quick technology fixes that don’t mean major additional capex spend. The beauty of Vemotion and Synectics is flexibility: we solve and react to day to day operational problems, as well as offering a strategic CCTV deployment plan.”

In one specific anti-social behaviour hotspot, it was proving impossible to control or respond to all the complaints and incidents, yet within three months of deployment on-site, incidents had been totally eradicated. Wakefield is also looking to install the technology for traffic management purposes, enabling traffic data to be sent and thereby assist motorists with real time instant traffic news that will help them navigate more quickly and easily. In this way, Synergy and Vemotion are offering additional benefits not originally envisaged - all important considerations for those with tight budgets to take into account.

“Against a backdrop of budget cuts, achieving objectives where the right infrastructure is not already in place is tough,” added David. “Vemotion solutions provide an ideal and cost effective answer to this issue and through integration with Synergy, operators can capitalise on this while still being able to monitor and control all data within a single environment.”

Public video surveillance solutions

Synectics has extensive experience in developing and delivering surveillance solutions for public space applications. Its systems, many of which incorporate Synectics’ proven command and control platform Synergy, are already deployed in two-thirds of the UK’s cities and half of London’s boroughs. Moving forward, Synergy and Vemotion will be working with other councils and public space bodies looking to benefit from wireless and deployable surveillance systems.

Vemotion’s encoding and streaming products enable video data to be transmitted wirelessly from surveillance cameras over any network and allows footage to be streamed from any device - ideal for councils in need of temporary or re-deployable solutions to extend and enhance their public space surveillance network.
