Smiths Detection has won a follow-on order for over $8 million to supply mobile X-ray cargo screening systems to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). The systems will be installed this year at selected sites to help enhance border screening.
The HCVM Z60 NA is a high energy scanner used to inspect trucks, other vehicles and containers for weapons, explosives and narcotics to optimise security checks at ports, airports and border crossings. It can scan through 12 inches of steel to provide operators with high resolution images of container contents for rapid and reliable interpretation. Up to 25 trucks per hour can be inspected.
Lance Roncalli, Vice President of Sales, Americas, for Smiths Detection, said: “Smiths Detection’s HCVM series meets the growing demand for fast and dependable cargo screening to enhance security while supporting the free flow of trade. The technology is also backed by our globally recognised commitment to training and service which offers an exceptional overall value for customers like the CBSA.”
