Nova Integrated systems Ltd selected to install a CCTV and ANPR camera system to cover Brackmills estate
Following approved funding by West Northamptonshire Development Corporation (WNDC) of £345,345 for a crime prevention and safety scheme on the Brackmills industrial estate, which had been hit by a spate of lorry jackings and thefts, Nova Integrated systems Ltd was selected to install a CCTV and ANPR camera system to cover the whole estate. In the past year, cargoes stolen from lorries included clothes, TVs and other electrical equipment. In the most recent incident, on November 11, 192 Packard Bell computers, worth £115,000, were stolen from a lorry in Salthouse Road, Brackmills.

The funding for the system had been secured as a result of businesses on Brackmills Industrial Estate making a commitment to pay for the on-going maintenance and monitoring of the system. This is coordinated through the new Brackmills Business Improvement District (BID).

Mike Franklin Crime Prevention Manager of Northamptonshire Police and Charlotte Patrick Sector Development Manager of Northamptonshire Enterprise Limited, who have both been working closely with the Brackmills businesses in developing the BID gave presentations recently to one of their group meetings.

Mike Franklin said: "Good images are being received by using radio transmission technology and covers all entrances/exit to the estate.. The system installed could store up to 2 years of data from the ANPR system that could be used as a post investigative tool for any incidents." He also confirmed that since the cameras and ANPR became operational there has been a massive early drop in crime with no road freight crime and dangerous parking almost eradicated.

An important feature of the system designed by Nova was that it could produce high quality images using radio transmission technology

Charlotte Patrick Sector Development Manager of Northamptonshire Enterprise Limited agreed saying that: "Following the introduction of the cameras onto the estate there had been a significant drop in external crime on the estate and the cameras were certainly acting as a deterrent."

An important feature of the system designed by Nova was that it could produce high quality images using radio transmission technology which would produce an ongoing cost saving to Northampton Council over the alternative fibre systems available.

In addition to its design and installation capabilities, Nova Integrated Systems offers a 24 hour maintenance service for CCTV and access control systems. Nova is accredited to ISO 9002 for quality assurance by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) to the highest standard NACOSS Gold.
