Since its founding as a small IT startup in 1997, Mirasys Ltd has grown to become the Scandinavian market leader and a leading provider of surveillance software in Europe and North America. Today, Mirasys software is used to monitor sites ranging from New York State school districts to holding cells in Queensland, Australia, and from diamond mines in South Africa to the streets of Helsinki, Finland.
A pioneer in its field, Mirasys was among the first companies to develop digital surveillance software for the needs of the security industry. Mirasys' main innovation was in developing surveillance software that enabled recording and processing digital image feed from analogue surveillance cameras, enabling existing surveillance networks to move gradually and seamlessly towards digital surveillance. Now, as the security industry is taking its next major leap towards the age of megapixel quality surveillance, Mirasys is once again leading the way.
"The security industry is facing its next major breakthrough," comments Toni Mikkilä, the Technical Product Manager at Mirasys Ltd. "The keywords are megapixel technology and automatisation; the next step is the automatic control of large security complexes, in which video surveillance combines with - for example - audio surveillance, electronic locks, remote alarms, as well as auxiliary applications such as licence plate recognition and surveillance processes based on receipt analysis at shops."
Mirasys celebrates its 10-year anniversary by releasing version 4.0 of its awarded V/N series surveillance management platform. Mirasys V/N series 4.0 concentrates in expanding and automatising alarm functionalities into automatic event sequences that can combine multiple actions and include up to thousands of cameras and auxiliary devices, especially improving the customisability and efficiency of large scale surveillance systems.
