Custom Consoles will exhibit the latest additions to its range of broadcast control-room and postproduction-suite furniture on stand 33 in Hall 6 at CABSAT 2014, Dubai, March 11-13. Representatives attending will include Managing Director Neil Reed, Commercial Director Graham Buchanan and Sales Manager Gary Fuller.

On show will be the recently announced EditOne desk, the latest version of the Media Wall scalable monitor mounting system, and an example of Custom Consoles' established Module-R control-room furniture system.

EditOne postproduction-suite desk

Designed for use in video edit suites and broadcast graphics areas, EditOne is an ergonomically efficient desk which goes beyond traditional rectangular styling by using sculpted support panels. The curved theme is carried through to the desktop and a raised monitor shelf, both of which are designed for a centrally seated operator.

Each EditOne desk incorporates three equipment pods with a collective 9U of rack space forming the base of a monitor shelf. Full cable management is provided. Power distribution is optional. An auxiliary equipment pedestal with an additional 11U of rack space and an integral worktop can also be supplied.

Front and rear corners of the EditOne desk and the auxiliary pedestal are curved, eliminating any possibility of collision with sharp protrusions and contributing to the ultra-modern styling. The worktop and monitor base also have hard-wearing and operator-friendly curved edges at front, sides and rear. Finish is in oak with contrasting black powder-coated MDF.

All furniture in the EditOne range can be shipped within days of order in compact flat-pack form for easy onsite assembly, saving space, cost and delivery time.

Media Wall multiscreen monitor support

Widely used by broadcasters as well as in security centres and industrial process control suites, Media Wall is a robust and efficient multiscreen mounting system. The latest version features a series of enhancements including narrower front-to-back depth, reduced from 600 to 500 millimetres. Like its predecessor, the new version of Media Wall is fully self-supporting and retains the option of adding coupling brackets directly to the studio wall.

Available in a silver-anodised or black-powder coated finish and in bespoke widths, Media Wall incorporates height-adjustable horizontal beams suspended between 2.3 metre high aluminium columns. Equipment pods with 19 inch racking behind removable vented panels can be incorporated at floor-level.

Freely adjustable horizontal and vertical screen spacing replaces the former discrete-mount mounting holes. This allows individual display screens to be positioned so that their edges meet exactly to form a continuous horizontal monitorscape limited only by the boundary of the display itself.

Cable management within Media Wall is now along ducts with finger-trunking slots. This combination ensures that all wiring is fully concealed and can enter or leave the structure at any desired point. Integral mains distribution units will be available as an option.

A new range of own-design VESA mounts allow easy front access when mounting small screens to Media Wall.

Module-R desk system

Custom Consoles’ Module-R product range enables customers to specify robust, efficient and attractive control-room desks from a selection of standard interlocking elements. These include single-bay, dual-bay and triple-bay desk sections with front or rear access, work surfaces in matching widths, corner desk sections in 90 degree, 45 degree or 30 degree angles with integral worktops, a slide-out keyboard drawer, equipment pods with 3U, 6U or 8U capacity, a 19 inch storage pedestal and 27U equipment bay.

Module-R desks incorporate steel-and-aluminium vertical supports with internal cable ducts. Resting on a broad load-bearing skid, the legs provide high strength and stability, protect studio carpet and allow easy relocation if required during technical rebuilds. Module-R furniture is available as off-the-shelf units in beech, cherry, maple or oak finish with a choice of hard-wearing arabesque, black or blue marmoleum worktops. Cabinet construction is in veneered MDF with continuous brush-strip edging and easy cable access.

SystemTwo height-adjustable workstations

SystemTwo is a multi-element furniture system designed to accommodate free-standing or pod-mounted equipment such as graphics workstations and editing terminals. The SystemTwo range includes the S2-01B desk and S2-02B shelf, both electrically adjustable in height from 660 to 1,250 millimetres.

Founded in 1996, Custom Consoles Ltd (www.customconsoles.co.uk) is an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer of project-specific and modular broadcast, process-control and security furniture.
