Starting in autumn 2014, LEGIC IDConnect offers application providers and integrators the possibility to bring contactless chip cards, e.g. company badges or mobility cards, onto smartphones. In Switzerland, these virtual cards are provided in the Tapit application provided by Swisscom. Apart from Swisscom, Orange and Sunrise will soon support Tapit, too. Thus, Switzerland is the first country worldwide, where a common NFC based platform is supported by all Mobile Network Operators. Due to IDConnect, thousands of applications have immediate access to it.
Thanks to LEGIC’s new Trusted Service IDConnect, application providers and their customers are able to use different applications on smartphones – with free choice of one of the three Mobile Network Operators (MNO). All three MNOs in Switzerland will connect to Tapit, to which all LEGIC license partners have access via IDConnect. The support of all leading MNOs in one country is unique in the world and makes NFC a universal applicable medium.
