Bosch introduces a complete new lineup of intelligent cameras within its midrange portfolio. The all-new fixed FLEXIDOME camera and DINION bullet IP 4000i, IP 5000i and IP 6000i cameras now have Essential Video Analytics built in as a standard (intelligent) feature.
This enables these network video cameras to understand what they are seeing, generating metadata to add sense and structure to the video footage. Instead of simply capturing and storing video data, users can now use the metadata alongside the video footage to improve their level of security and make smarter business decisions using a wealth of statistics.
Improving security and intrusion detection
Further improving security, these intelligent cameras enable advanced intrusion detection, allowing users to set one or more alarm rules in parallel, only receiving alerts when needed. The cameras’ ability to interpret what they see helps add sense and structure to video data using metadata.
Video data is enriched with numerous statistics like colour details, and the type, speed and direction of moving objects in a scene. The standard forensic search feature provided with Essential Video Analytics employs metadata, making it possible to sift through hours of recorded video data in only seconds. Delivering the right information in case of an emergency or the correct evidence after a criminal act is easier than ever.
Beyond security: Retail business decisions
By enabling users to interpret data directly at the source, data can also be re-assigned to make smarter business decisions. In the retail business environment, for example, the IP 4000i, IP 5000i and IP 6000i cameras can gather statistics such as the number of people entering or leaving a store, or identify patterns in customer activity in order to optimise store layouts, improve customer experiences and bolster sales.

Another example of how the cameras take analytics beyond mere security applications is by helping enforce health and safety regulations in commercial buildings, retail, warehouses and industrial facilities. Through video analytics, automatic alarms can trigger when something is blocking emergency exits, when forklift trucks are driving in the wrong direction, or when unauthorised vehicles are parked in “no-parking” areas, such as loading zones.
Bosch starlight technology
The next level in video security and video data analytics requires cameras with built-in video analytics combined with the ability to deliver the highest image quality and most efficient data management.
With these requirements in mind, the IP 4000i, IP 5000i and IP 6000i cameras are available in a range of resolutions, from 720p up to 5 megapixels, with frame rates up to 60 frames per second. Even in challenging lighting conditions, the new DINION IP starlight 6000i IR bullet camera provides clear and detailed colour images, thanks to Bosch starlight technology.
This opens up the camera’s full video analytics capabilities, like colour filtering, even in scenes with minimal ambient light, to improve security and offer new application opportunities.
Noise reduction and intelligent streaming
For the most efficient data management, all IP 4000i, IP 5000i and IP 6000i cameras offer Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction and Intelligent streaming. Since quiet scenes with little or no movement require a lower bitrate, the cameras’ intelligent bitrate techniques distinguish between image noise and relevant information, such as movement.
This helps keep video data manageable, while substantially reducing network strain and storage requirements - and because image noise is reduced at the source during image capture, the lower bitrate does not compromise video quality. Combined with latest H.265 video compression, the cameras can reduce bitrates by up to 80 percent.
In case a legacy system does not yet support H.265, the all-new IP 4000i, IP 5000i and IP 6000i cameras ensure backward compatibility by supporting legacy H.264 systems. Like all Bosch network cameras, the IP 4000i, IP 5000i and IP 6000i models offer various software and hardware measures, such as a built-in Trusted Platform Module, to keep video data secure.
Bosch’s new IP 4000i, IP 5000i and IP 6000i fixed dome and bullet cameras with built-in video analytics are designed to take data usage to a whole new level. The cameras not only meet highest security demands, they open up the world of video analytics, revolutionising how video data is used. Users can now put video analytics to work for them - to make smarter business decisions.
