Allegion and ALOA are dedicated to
educating locksmiths and helping the
industry
maintain a high standard
Allegion, a leading global provider of security products and solutions, has worked with the ALOA Security Professionals Association to further develop the organisation’s national training centre located in Dallas, Texas. ALOA is the world’s largest organisation for locksmiths and other physical security professionals.

Educating locksmith professionals

Through the collaboration, Allegion donated nearly 100 pieces of hardware, including Ives® hinges, Schlage® locks and cylinders, LCN® and Falcon® door closers and Von Duprin® exit devices. Allegion’s newest electronic lock, the Schlage® NDE Series wireless lock, will be used to secure the classroom doors.

“The continuing education of locksmith industry professionals is part of the business we greatly value at Allegion,” said Marli Williams, Business Leader, Channel-Led Customer Experience and Program Development at Allegion. “Without this education, our progression as an industry will lag, and we’re determined to keep that from happening. We’re aligned with ALOA in its dedication to creating an environment where locksmiths can learn and become more successful.”

Resources and programmes increase effectiveness

ALOA is dedicated to increasing the effectiveness of locksmiths through educational programmes and materials that address broad security interests. In an effort to be a resource for locksmiths, the organisation provides full-day instructor-led training classes through regionally-sponsored classes. The organisation also hosts the Proficiency Registration Program (PRP), which is the international standard for professional certification in the field of physical security.

“Serving our industry with the finest educational resources is part of what we do as an organisation, and we’re always trying to work with industry leaders to provide the best experience for our members,” said Jim Hancock, Education Manager at ALOA. “Our organisation has certified more than 4,000 locksmiths with an additional 2,900 in progress, so creating a community where industry professionals can come and learn will continue to benefit locksmiths across the nation.”

Allegion & ALOA - long-standing partnership

Allegion has also worked closely for a number of years with ALOA during their Annual Convention & Security Expo, where they have hosted an exhibitor’s booth and organised educational training classes for locksmiths in attendance. One of the ALOA training rooms will also contain Allegion product displays and literature, which feature a variety of products for the commercial, K-12 schools and multi-family environments.

The Dedication of the Aaron M. Fish Security Training Center at the ALOA headquarters in Dallas, Texas, will be held on Thursday, 12th November.
