NCT Maritime Border Security
The inaugural edition of NCT Maritime Border Security will take place in the European Union's latest new member: The Republic of Croatia.
This event will take place at Le Méridien Hotel, Split, Croatia and will include a two day conference as well as a Maritime Security demonstration in the port of Split.
As the new border of the EU with Bosnia, Serbia and Montenegro, and with over a thousand islands on its Adriatic coast, Croatia is at the forefront of maritime border security issues. The government of Croatia has pledged to join Schengen, and is determined to upgrade its capabilities in order to fulfil all the requirements for joining the Schengen treaty, and be part of the borderless Europe. In the meantime, international merchant and passenger ship flows keep on augmenting year after year while terrorist threats become ever more acute. Consequently, coast guards, navies, port authorities and law enforcement officers have to protect vessels, ferries, port facilities, merchandise and people against any kind of threat or attack. Consequently, this event will focus on biometric and sensor capability building to address maritime border security issues with a special emphasis on Croatia.
NCT Maritime Border Security will include high – level international speakers from the military, government, academia and the industry who will present and discuss key themes including: critical infrastructure surveillance and protection, port personnel and seafarers biometric control, IED and Hazmat detection as well as biometric intelligence sharing.
