Bosch Security Systems’ Abacus Evolution is an innovative intruder alarm panel range comprising two models designed for Grade 2 and Grade 3 residential and commercial applications that removes the burden of EN compliance and delivers further significant benefits to installers and end-users alike.
For the installer, Abacus Evolution is quick and easy to install, and can be configured and expanded to handle up to 256 zones through the simple use of a modular bus-based ‘snap-in’ expansion system. For the end user, Abacus Evolution offers the highest levels of protection, whilst meeting and even exceeding the stringent false alarm requirements laid down by ACPO and the BSIA.
The Abacus Evolution comprises two models: the ICP G2 for eight to 64 zones in Grade 2 applications; and the ICP G3 model for eight to 256 zones for Grade 3 installations. Both models allow extra zones, memory modules and modems to be added (literally ‘snapped-in’) without the need – nor the associated disruption and cost – of replacing the whole unit.
A particular benefit is that it removes one of the key headaches installers currently face – compliance to EN50131, as Jeremy Hockham, UK Managing Director of Bosch Security Systems explains, “The new European Norms are a challenge to installers when it comes to specifying and buying product,” he says. “Stock can be a burden to carry, and training on individual kit time-consuming and expensive. Now it’s a simple choice between the ICP G2 and the ICP G3, and any future requirements from the customer can be easily accommodated.”
All devices on the bus are easily visible, further accelerating set-up and servicing, and optional communications are available to allow for remote servicing and maintenance. Also optional is a plug-in digi-modem and Automatic Maintenance Programme (AMP) that enable installers to test the panel remotely and produce a full diagnostic report.
Other features include proximity tags for Set and Unset (DD243) access control, full up and downloading via remote PC, a built-in calibrated Volts, Amps and Resistance metre for faster servicing, logging of up to 1,000 events, partitioning for up to 14 areas, 16 wards and 128 shunts groups, and timers for exit/entry. As well as ‘normal’ alarms, the Abacus Evolution can also send SMS text messages to up to four GSM mobile phones.
In addition to EN50131, Abacus Evolution can be configured to meet virtually any residential and commercial requirement to PD6662 and DD243 specifications.
The launch of the Abacus Evolution is being fully supported by Bosch with detailed product literature and training programmes, and the product is already being stocked by the leading distributors.
