Thomas Kalling
Institute Director at Lund University, LUSAX Security InformaticsProfessor Thomas Kalling received his PhD in Business Administration from the School of Economics and Management in 2000, and became Associate Professor and Docent in 2004. He became a professor in 2008. The dissertation concerned IT and competitive advantage, and since then he has divided his research into IT and strategy. After the dissertation, Thomas spent 2 years working for SCA Packaging in Brussels. Upon returning to the School of Economics and Management, he shared his time between the Institute of Economic Research and the Department of Informatics. In 2006, he changed affiliation to the Department of Business Administration, where he currently is employed as professor of strategic management. Since October 2006, Dr Kalling is the Director of the Institute of Economic Research. Thomas Kalling's research areas include strategic management, organisation, technology management, innovation, ICT and standardisation, and manages research programmes on innovation management and change in capital-intensive, international MNCs; technology development, assimilation and convergence; ICT and society; call centre organisation; and the economics and politics of standards and standardisation. Thomas Kalling works with many different corporations and institutions, including SCA Packaging, Trelleborg, Axis Communications, E.ON, Ericsson, the Swedish standardisation bodies, Teknikföretagen, Energimyndigheten, and the Swedish Consumers' and Labour Unions' Standardisation Council.
