In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many businesses have adopted work from home policies. Synology's wireless routers feature powerful VPN server capabilities that enable businesses to quickly facilitate a remote workforce. Starting from 6th April, Synology VPN Plus licences will become free to purchase until 30th September 2020.

"We have seen many businesses rushing to adopt VPN solutions in order to set up an infrastructure to enable a remote workforce. Over the past two months, we have seen a five-fold increase in VPN Plus licence purchases," said Hewitt Lee, Director of Synology Product Management Group. "As the situation continues to develop in unprecedented ways, we understand that many are uncertain of how to maintain business continuity. Synology is offering VPN Plus licences for free in an effort to help businesses resume operations remotely."

Secure access to internal resources

All licences are perpetual and do not expire or require additional costs after 30th September 2020

Both existing and new owners of Synology's RT1900ac, RT2600ac, and MR2200ac wireless routers will be able to purchase VPN Plus Client VPN Access and Site-to-Site VPN licences for free. All licences are perpetual and do not expire or require additional costs after 30th September 2020.

It helps business support the company's remote workforce with secure access to internal resources, no matter where they are at.

Free client access licence

  • From 6th April 2020 - 00:00 PDT (GMT-7) until 30th September 2020 - 23:59 PDT (GMT-7).
  • Each Synology Router provides one free client access licence. Each additional client access licence enables one additional concurrent user account logged into VPN Plus. The maximum number of Client VPN Access licences a single device supports depends on the model:
  • RT2600ac: 20
  • RT1900ac, MR2200ac: 10
