The Security Executive Council (SEC) has opened applications for its annual scholarship programme, offering up to $7,500 to qualifying students enrolled in specific academic programs of study in the 2023-2024 academic year.

The SEC launched the scholarship programme in 2022 to encourage and support next-generation leaders at its partner academic institutions, which are recognised for excellent programs in security, risk, and intelligence.

Partner academic institutions

Each $2,500 Next Generation Security Leader Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student enrolled in one of the following academic programs:

  • Kennesaw State University Coles College of Business’ Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Information Security and Assurance.
  • University of South Carolina – Darla Moore College of Business’ Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Insurance.
  • Mercyhurst University’s Bachelor of Science in Data Science, Bachelor of Arts in Intelligence Studies or Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security.

The SEC Scholarship Committee is made up of SEC staff, successful former security executives

Scholarship awards will be made in accordance with the universities’ criteria and SEC input regarding security leadership potential. The SEC Scholarship Committee is made up of SEC staff, successful former security executives, and current security practitioners from well-known corporations, as well as university faculty. Applications must be completed by March 10, 2023.
