Pivot3, a provider of intelligent infrastructure solutions, announced that it is providing its hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) software platform to Lenovo Datacenter Group (DCG) to deliver integrated edge computing solutions optimised for mission-critical Smart City and Safe Campus environments. As part of Lenovo’s ON DEMAND program, Pivot3 and Lenovo have developed fully qualified solutions for edge deployments that are available through Lenovo’s network of channel partners worldwide, a move that strengthens Pivot3’s Internet of Things (IoT) go-to-market strategy.

ON DEMAND is a unique program from Lenovo that provides independent software vendors an unparalleled level of flexibility in developing appliance-based solutions and partnering with Lenovo to take them to market.

Reliable video security solution

Together, Lenovo and Pivot3 have a solution that lowers our costs and reduces our deployment risk"

Lenovo ThinkSystem servers coupled with Pivot3’s HCI platform seeks to provide the industry’s most capable and reliable video security solution capable of supporting customers’ mission-critical deployments. Targeting Safe and Smart City and Campus environments, the solutions are optimised to deliver resilient, cost-effective, and easy-to-manage edge and core computing. They are fully integrated and tested for optimal performance, scalability, and reliability to ensure streamlined, simplified deployment. St. John’s University in New York City recently signed on for the Lenovo-Pivot3 solution, recognising the ON DEMAND programme’s strengths and alignment with their needs.

“Lenovo is our trusted partner; being able to purchase best-in-class, purpose-built appliances for our video surveillance needs was a huge benefit for us,” said Thomas Ross, Associate Director Systems Engineering from St. John's University.

Advances in edge computing

“Together, Lenovo and Pivot3 have a solution that lowers our costs and reduces our deployment risk. The safety of our campus is at stake; we can’t tolerate any downtime or data loss from our surveillance infrastructure. Pivot3 technology, combined with Lenovo quality, meets those needs and gives us peace of mind.”

Our alliance is a strong complement to our existing channel strategy and allows us to serve a broader market"

Global data is expanding at an extremely rapid pace, and of that data, over 40% will be in video or streaming formats, which presents unique challenges only Pivot3 and Lenovo are architected to handle. Collecting, analysing and storing the information generated from these sources in real-time requires the latest advances in edge computing, storage, GPUs and other technologies. The joint solutions are architected for extreme resilience and can manage massive volumes of data, making them uniquely positioned to handle IoT use cases.

Integrated, intelligent solution

“The growing demand for actionable data is a fundamental reason why Lenovo and Pivot3 have teamed up to provide customers with a solution to centrally manage their distributed, intelligent edge devices with faster video ingest rates and higher resilience,” said Kamran Amini, Lenovo VP & GM, DCG Solution Segments.

"Together, we’re delivering a fully integrated, intelligent solution that simplifies deployments, streamlines system management and enables environments to scale on-demand. Lenovo shares our commitment to supporting the evolving, intensive needs of mission-critical data centers and security operations centers, making them ideal to partner with on our go-to-market strategy,” said Bruce Milne, Chief Marketing Officer, Pivot3.

“Our alliance is a strong complement to our existing channel strategy and allows us to serve a broader market. With Lenovo, we have a partner with a strong technology portfolio, a global presence, and a reputation as an industry leader to provide these HCI-based solutions to its global customer base.”
