Milestone Systems, the open platform company in networked video management software (VMS), has released Device Pack 9.6a for partners and customers using Milestone XProtect video solutions. The bi-monthly device packs contain software updates for XProtect video management to support new hardware. This release is the first to support modular device packs, minimising the download for most users.

Enhanced user experience

AXIS Optimizer for Milestone XProtect is a dedicated suite of plugins and features for the Milestone Smart Client that streamline the usability of cameras from Axis Communications in XProtect VMS. The plug-in was showcased at this year’s global Milestone Community Events.

Traditionally, system integrators or XProtect users need to manually manage the plugin management process for the range of Axis plugins related to Axis devices on their network. This new tool saves considerable time and efforts to search for, download, install and configure all relevant, required plugins for Axis devices operating with XProtect.

The management features in AXIS Optimizer include dewarping, perimeter defender, camera shaker and a new menu option giving easy access to camera commands. The plugin makes it possible to access the radar device’s control interface directly from the Milestone Smart Client, making the use of this advanced device a seamless experience.

Metadata to improve situational awareness

Metadata – data about other data and audio - is just as important as the video streams from mobile and body worn camera. Audio can be used to document events outside the view of the camera, Metadata like GPS position and data from in-camera video analytics or sensors can augment the visuals from the camera. This data helps to establish improved situational awareness.

To address these needs, Milestone has enhanced the single channel ONVIF driver. Furthermore, support for Digital Barriers device(s) now includes handling H.264 as well as various events (Input Rising, Tripwire, Object Presence, Object Stopping, Low Battery, Face Appearing, Video Offload, SD Card Start, Face Rising, Panic Button).

Other highlights from device pack 9.6a

The support for Mobotix has been increased with support for the H.264 video codec and multi streaming for the latest Mx6 series of cameras.

ONVIF support for the H.265 Codec for 109 devices from Hikvision has also been added.
