Without question, ‘innovation’ is the word that comes to mind when Kwikset brand of Spectrum Brands, Inc. – Hardware & Home Improvement Division, showcases five new locks at ISC West 2018, April 11-13 in La Vegas.

From keyless entry to smart-lock conversion kits and Z-Wave chipsets with improved wireless range, the five new locks paint a picture of a company that is placing a premium not only on innovation but forward-looking design, progressive technology and, of course, improved security. What’s more, all new 2018 Kwikset smart locks incorporate the next generation Z-Wave 500 Series chipset. Z-Wave 500 provides a number of enhancements, including extended wireless range and wireless security features that reduce the vulnerability of the network during enrolment, as well as increased battery life.

The SmartCode 888 features Kwikset’s patented SmartKey Security, which protects against advanced break-in techniques

SmartCode 888 Touchpad Electronic Deadbolt

The SmartCode 888 touchpad electronic deadbolt delivers superior value allowing the lock to be included by the integrator into virtually every smart-home or security package. It features a sleek, all-metal design and traditional styling and is designed to integrate with most Z-Wave smart home systems. It delivers convenience and peace of mind to homeowners with complete remote locking/unlocking via smartphones and tablets, as well as total home control.

Like all Kwikset locks, the SmartCode 888 features Kwikset’s patented SmartKey Security, which protects against advanced break-in techniques. It also allows homeowners to re-key the lock themselves in seconds.

Obsidian Touchscreen Smart Lock

Obsidian is a visually striking, low-profile touchscreen electronic deadbolt featuring ‘game changing’ design. Named after a dark, glasslike volcanic rock, Obsidian merges a sleek and modern exterior; a class-leading, minimal, all-metal interior; and advanced mechanical and electronic security features.  Eliminating the keyway also removes the threat of ‘lock picking’ and ‘lock bumping’ attacks using special keys to defeat conventional pin and tumbler locks. Obsidian also includes Kwikset’s patented SecureScreen to help mask ‘smudge’ attacks, in which passcodes can potentially be jeopardized.

Kwikset Convert will turn mechanical deadbolts - even non-Kwikset deadbolts - into smart, electronic locks

Kwikset Convert

What makes the Kwikset Convert (Z-Wave Smart Lock Conversion Kit) unique is that it will turn mechanical deadbolts - even non-Kwikset deadbolts - into smart, electronic locks. It does this by replacing the interior half of an existing deadbolt without changing the exterior; thus, Kwikset Convert will appeal to design-focused homeowners who want the convenience of keyless entry and home automation that a smart lock brings while maintaining the style of the front door or matching an existing handleset. And it will appeal to owners of condominiums and vacation property whose homeowners associations require all exterior locks to be uniform in appearance.

SmartCode 914 Touchpad Electronic Deadbolt and SmartCode 916 Touchscreen Electronic Deadbolt (Contemporary Versions)

With their updated, modern designs, these new contemporary versions of the SmartCode 914 and SmartCode 916, the industry’s leading wireless, access control deadbolts, continue to deliver convenience and peace of mind to homeowners with complete remote locking/unlocking via smartphones and tablets. The contemporary style expands the range of design choices for the consumer.

We’re thrilled to be showcasing so many new and innovative locks at this important industry event,” said Keith Brandon, Divisional Vice President of Residential Access Solutions, Spectrum Brands, Inc. – Hardware & Home Improvement Division. “The wide range of products shows our dealers and integrators that we truly have something for everyone in terms of aesthetics, overall function and, of course, security.
