Senstar announced the extended range capability for its FiberPatrol™-PR fence-mounted fibre optic intrusion detection system
FiberPatrol detects and locates intrusions over a distance of up to 24 km (14.9 mi) per processor

Senstar, the world’s largest manufacturer of perimeter intrusion detection systems (PIDS) is pleased to announce extended range capability for its FiberPatrol™-PR fence-mounted fibre optic intrusion detection system. The system now detects and locates intrusions over a distance of up to 24 km (14.9 mi) per processor, a 50 percent increase from the previous capability of 16 km (10 mi), making FiberPatrol-PR the longest ranging fibre optic sensor with built-in cut immunity currently available.

Detecting multiple intrusions

“Many sites in our target markets such as airports, military sites and large oil and gas facilities, have perimeter lengths of 20 km (12 mi) or more,” said Senstar’s Product Manager Stewart Dewar. “By extending FiberPatrol’s detection range capability to 24 km (14.9 mi), we are able to secure more sites with one system, reducing overall costs and infrastructure requirements, simplifying installation and maintenance, and increasing reliability.”

FiberPatrol-PR has been protecting critical infrastructure around the world since 2009. It accurately pinpoints intrusions with a +/-8 metre accuracy and locates intrusions even when there are multiple simultaneous intrusions or in the presence of non-localised environmental noise. No power or conductive items are required in the field, making FiberPatrol-PR completely immune to EMI and lightning and intrinsically safe in the presence of explosive atmospheres. FiberPatrol-PR is fully operational after a cable cut in a cut-immune configuration.
