Sumsub, a full-cycle verification platform, is pleased to announce its collaboration with HoppyGo, a P2P carsharing company founded by Škoda, offering its clients a quick and easy way to rent a car through their mobile app.

By 2025, 43% of European drivers do not plan to own their own vehicle. It is also estimated that 7.5 million cars will be shared in Europe by 2035. Clearly, demand for affordable and flexible mobility will continue to grow, and the data suggests that convenient, affordable, and sustainable mobility will become more and more popular.

Digital identity fraud

As the carsharing sector grows, the need for efficient driver identity checks will only increase. Digital identity fraud is a big issue, particularly for the mobility industry, where insufficient driver checks can create real hazards on the road. According to Sumsub’s internal data, identity fraud in the mobility industry increased by 34% in Germany and by 18% in the UK last quarter.

Over the year, from Q2 2022 to Q2 2023, the identity fraud rate in the mobility industry in the Czech Republic increased 5.5 times. Meanwhile, in Spain, the overall ID fraud rate in the transportation sector grew above 4% in Q2 2023.
