Hikvision Canada Inc., the North American leader in innovative, award-winning video surveillance products, is working with Montreal-based integrator Intelgest to provide security cameras for the Centre Petite Échelle in Montreal, an organisation that supports young people with special needs. The centre serves children age 12 and under who have one or more diagnoses such as autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, and cerebral palsy.

Hikvision cameras will provide added security for the centre’s new, larger facility. “It must be understood that the more space we have, the greater our need for surveillance cameras,” said Isabelle Julien, general director for the centre. “Without the cameras, it would be impossible for me to see the safety and the progress of our young people,” she added.

The centre is open seven days a week and all services provided to the children and their families are personalised, and delivered by skilled practitioners. The centre does not require an official diagnosis to support the children of families with special needs.

In business for 14 years, Intelgest installs IP video surveillance systems and access control that integrates with IP in a variety of vertical markets. Eric Beaulieu, senior partner of Intelgest, said the cameras will enable educators to “see the interaction between the child and educator in context without interfering with the dynamic of the interaction.” Beaulieu recommended Hikvision cameras to the centre because they provide comprehensive, HD coverage with excellent quality and reliability.

Intelgest will install the Hikvision DS-2CD2112 1.3MP HD Dome Cameras for outdoor surveillance to secure the perimeter of the new building. Hikvision cameras provide wide angle viewing with high definition quality. The Outdoor 1.3MP Dome Camera has vandal-proof housing and auto night switch for all-day and year-round security performance.

Hikvision solutions can be customised to the needs of educational institutions from specialised centres such as the Petite Échelle to a wide range of K-12 and higher education campuses. “Hikvision technology provides benefits beyond security in a variety of vertical markets. The Center Petite Échelle is a great example of how our security systems can support both security and the learning process in unique settings,” said Alex Asnovich, director of marketing for Hikvision Canada Inc. and Hikvision USA Inc.
