HID Global’s Lumidigm V-Series V4xx fingerprint authentication solution protects financial transactions

HID Global®, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, recently announced it will showcase its expanded Lumidigm® biometrics offering at next week’s connect:ID Conference in Washington D.C. The company’s biometrics portfolio now includes tamper protection and encryption capabilities that have been proven in multiple bank deployments, securing over one billion transactions per year. Company executives will also speak during the conference on the use of trusted identities in today’s increasingly connected digital world.

Biometric authentication for banks and ATMs

HID Global’s Lumidigm V-Series V4xx fingerprint authentication solution simplifies and protects end-user financial transactions while eliminating fraud and protecting identities at ATMs, teller counters, and for other high-value transactions. The sensors and modules leverage the proven biometric performance and fingerprint liveness detection capabilities of its multispectral imaging technology while adding data encryption, tamper detection/response and key management for trusted user authentication.

The value of HID Global’s tamper protection and trusted endpoint connections has been demonstrated in multiple banking implementations, protecting tens of millions of bank customers from fraudulent transactions that can occur by device tampering or malware injected by external hackers or internal employees. Now, these capabilities are part of the V-Series family and are available via several standard cryptographic transaction models. Customers have the option to upgrade existing V-Series installations to achieve encrypted and tamper-resistant biometric user authentication to centralised account management systems. They can also enlist professional services support from HID Global to create a proprietary cryptographic solution that fits their specific needs.

“Biometric authentication supported by risk-appropriate, multi-layered security is not only important but, when done correctly, is simple and cost-effective to deploy, while delivering the additional benefit of a significantly improved user experience,” said Paul Butler, Vice President and General Manager, Biometrics, with HID Global. “We’ve proven this approach in custom implementations and are now making it more broadly accessible with the addition of several standard cryptographic options that simplify and speed deployments for banks and other users that need a highly secure transaction environment in this era of frequent and sophisticated cyberattacks.”
