The latest security product from Hesco has been launched: Available in five specifications, TERRABLOCK is a security barrier which is designed to minimise the impact of hostile vehicles, protecting both civilians and critical infrastructure.

Protecting the public

Hesco have been providing innovative security solutions since 1991, working to protect some of the most hostile environments around the world, and their new launch adds to their extensive security offering.

Five years in the making, TERRABLOCK has been created to provide peace of mind to the public and reassure them that their safety is under the care of a leading security provider, who have a wealth of experience in dealing with hostile threats.

First deployed at the London 2012 Olympics, TERRABLOCK has been developed in response to the increased security threats that the world is currently facing, and aims to prevent vehicles from causing damage and harm as well as from entering public spaces.

UK vehicle mitigation requirements

The barriers have been tested in accordance with the PAS68 security requirement for vehicle mitigation barriers in the UK, each barrier comes with its own specialism. For example, the XV has been tested against a 15,000lbs truck travelling at 50mph, and stopped the vehicle from impacting the surrounding area.

TERRABLOCK has
also been used at oil
and gas infrastructures across the world

The XT can be used with additional security measures such as CCTV, detection system and surface mounted poles, while the XL is designed with city landscapes in mind such as event venues and sport stadiums which require protection. The XR is able to withstand a vehicle which is travelling at 30mpg, and the XS has previously been used in remote locations around the world such as oil and gas infrastructures.

Using an energy displacement system, the barriers use a patented design which minimise the effect from a vehicle impact. The mesh panels use a series of pins and coil to form the security barrier, and as the solution is anti-climb, TERRABLOCK also provides surface mounted protection.

Rapid deployment

Delivered as a flat pack, TERRABLOCK is rapidly deployable as it does not require concrete foundations, instead using earth from the surrounding area where possible, or a ballast bag if this is not possible. A security solution which can be used in a range of environments, TERRABLOCK is currently used to protect the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, and has also been used at oil and gas infrastructures across the world. As the crash-rated barrier can be branded in-line with an organisations branding, it’s an inconspicuous security solution which is innovative and provides a high-level of certified protection.

Allowing organisations to protect the public with a solution from a leading security provider, TERRABLOCK by Hesco is able to provide effective defence from hostile vehicles across the world.
