Genetec Inc (Genetec), a technology provider of unified security, public safety, operations, and business intelligence solutions, will be present at the Smart City Expo World Congress which is to be held in Barcelona from the 5th -7th  November 2024.

The company will join its strategic partner, Axis Communications, in Hall 3, Stand 121, where they will present their innovative solutions designed to address today's smart city challenges.

City security, mobility efficiency

Genetec will emphasise its commitment to the deep unification of systems and its prominent role in improving city security and mobility efficiency. With its native open architecture platform, Genetec brings together diverse systems and technologies such as video surveillance, access control, Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), communications, and video analytics through one intuitive interface.

This facilitates decision-making by helping operators make sense of the data collected, thus contributing to the creation of safer and more resilient urban environments.

SaaS (software as a service) solution

Throughout the Expo, Genetec will also showcase its open SaaS (software as a service) solution offering, which allows organisations to connect directly to the cloud with the latest Axis cameras.

Security Centre SaaS enables customers to securely connect, enroll, and manage Axis devices in a variety of deployment options, including direct streaming of video, metadata, and access control data from the devices to the cloud.

Key solutions showcased at the show

Genetec will showcase its latest developments within smart city management in three key areas:

  • Public safety: The Genetec unified security platform enables cities to centralise monitoring, collect digital evidence, and support emergency response teams. This will improve coordination between public and private agencies, ensuring a fast and effective response.
  • Urban mobility: Genetec offers video-based traffic management solutions that optimise traffic flow and improve road safety. These solutions include vehicle recognition, roadway monitoring, automated incident detection, and the facilitation of real-time decision-making through advanced data analytics.
  • Environmental monitoring: With the integration of video and IoT, cities can receive real-time updates on weather conditions, air quality, and other environmental parameters, helping to create a more sustainable and safer urban environment.

A focus on partnership

These solutions aim to help cities overcome data fragmentation and work more efficiently while promoting privacy

Genetec's participation in the event is part of its strategy to collaborate with key partners such as Axis Communications, to deliver innovative and scalable solutions. These solutions aim to help cities overcome data fragmentation and work more efficiently while promoting privacy protection as a fundamental aspect of handling sensitive data in urban environments.

This synergy between Genetec solutions and Axis products such as network cameras, access controls, and communications solutions, results in an infrastructure for smart cities that prioritises security and sustainability.

Privacy and cybersecurity

"In partnership with Axis, the Smart City Expo World Congress will be a great occasion for Genetec to showcase our latest innovations and, in particular, the benefits of our unique unified approach whereby cities can - using a single platform - have a comprehensive way to manage their entire security: from security to IoT management, from data-driven decisions to enhanced mobility, designed with privacy and cybersecurity at its core," says Cyrille Becker, Managing Director EMEA at Genetec.

"An open platform and a strong network of Partners are two of the pillars on which Axis success has been built over the past 40 years. It is exciting for us to have Genetec join us at Smart City Expo World Congress to present concrete examples of a platform integration that enables increasingly advanced use cases, but at the same time it is simple to use for city authorities,” says Andrea Sorri, EMEA Business Development Manager, Cities at Axis.

Case studies

Genetec's commitment to the creation of secure and more efficient cities is reflected in its success stories from around the world.

  • One example is the implementation of their unified solutions in the London Borough of Harrow, where a traffic control room was opened to monitor incidents and ensure prompt responses.
  • Genetec has also employed centralised security platforms in Eindhoven (The Netherlands) and Albuquerque  (USA), improving incident response time and public safety management. These success stories, amongst others, will be presented at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona.

Genetec invites Smart City Expo World Congress attendees to visit the Axis Communications booth (Hall 3, Booth 121) to discover how their joint solutions can help the advancement of safety, efficiency, and connectivity within cities around the world.
