The Fire Safety & Security Event is dedicated to supporting industry practitioners, professionals, and organisations in achieving and maintaining the very highest standards of fire safety management.

Launch of the new xDetect panel

Showcasing the latest products, technology, and solutions in life safety was the perfect opportunity for Eaton to have on-stand offerings from all three areas of its Critical Systems business from Emergency Lighting, Fire Systems and Intrusion.

Eaton showcased the launch of the new xDetect addressable fire panel which is also an Eaton secure-by-design solution that ensures the highest level of cybersecurity, enabling secure communications and protecting both data and assets from hackers.

Ready for remote access

The system is entirely futureproof and ready for remote access, it can be safely integrated into a BMS

As the system is entirely futureproof and ready for remote access, it can be safely integrated into a Building Management System (BMS). In the future, it will be able to connect directly to the Fire Brigades’ Alarm Receiving Centre, enabling an even faster response in case of a fire.

This was supported by a talk on Cyber Security by Product Manager Kris Connor in the Fire Safety Theatre which drove great discussion looking into the threats of cyber attacks via building systems such as BMS, security & fire systems.

Feature-rich emergency lighting products

Eaton also had a huge range of feature-rich emergency lighting products on the stand from the aesthetically diverse self-contained fittings to their innovative adaptive emergency lighting system. This along with the DualGuard Central Battery System is the next generation of central battery emergency exit signs, able to adapt its status dependant on CCTV, fire detection or other inputs it ensures the safest possible evacuation route is communicated to building users.

Achieved through the ability to display a red "X" to signify a closed or blocked area and able to change its directional routing the range fully conforms with German and European standards including EN 60598-1, DIN EN 60598-2-22, DIN 4844-1 and DIN EN 1838. This was certainly engaging for audiences as they saw firsthand how adaptive emergency lighting could be deployed for safer evacuation.

Insightful discussion

Eaton’s Harry Russell also gave an insightful discussion in the Safety Theatre on Adaptive Emergency Lighting which sparked great interest and discussion.

Eaton as the only CYSPAG registered manufacturer in the UK and a huge range of Intrusion Systems

Eaton as the only CYSPAG registered manufacturer in the UK also had a huge range of Intrusion Systems on the show with everything from its huge range of wired and wireless systems, large range of keypad colours, to the only BS8243 compliant Dual Hold Up Button for both confirmed and unconfirmed alarms as well showing their powerful SecureConnect app, allowing everything from CCTV connectivity, remote diagnostics along with expected end-user features.

Author's quote

Eaton’s Glenn Foot discussed all things CYSPAG and Cyber Secure with Philip Ingram (MBE) with audiences talked through the future of security and IoT.

Speaking on the success of the show, Eaton’s Colin Smith EngTech GIFireMIET commented: “The Fire & Security Event series has been growing year on year and we are happy to have supported the show since it’s infancy, this year was a real opportunity for Eaton to showcase our entire Life Safety Division portfolio and the feedback from our customers visiting the stand has been overwhelming. We are proud to have such an encompassing and diverse portfolio and have something here for everyone interested in the future of fire safety, security or emergency lighting.
