General Sir Chris Deverell KCB MBE ADC Gen, Commander, Joint Forces Command will be delivering a keynote address at Defence and Security Equipment International 2017 (DSEI 2017) exhibition on Tuesday, 12th September. The event is expected to be the sector’s most comprehensive presentation of defence, military, aerospace, and security capabilities, when it takes place at ExCeL London later this year. 1,600 companies will exhibit at the exhibition, including SMEs and primes such as BAE Systems, QinetiQ, Leonardo, Lockheed Martin, Thales, MDBA, Rolls-Royce and General Dynamics. General Sir Chris Deverell will be speaking in the West Theatre, located on the exhibition floor.

Electronic warfare and electromagnetic operations

General Sir Chris Deverell said: "DSEI 2017 will offer Joint Forces Command the opportunity to report on our plans for the future, in particular on operationalising our Warfare in the Information Age concept. I am looking forward to it."

The emphasis on joint capability will continue into the DSEI exhibition from Tuesday 12 September to Friday 15 September, following four central themes: Develop, Deliver, Support, and People & Skills. The sessions will focus on warfare in the information age and joint environment, covering topics such as mobile military IoTY, electronic warfare and electromagnetic operations, activity based intelligence and soldier health monitoring. This will be reflected each day in the Joint seminar programme, and by the event’s extensive offering from specialist exhibitors in the Joint Zone.

Exhibiting companies

The inaugural Joint Zone, supported by Joint Forces Command, will feature a broad range of global businesses that provide capabilities across the single services, special forces, and humanitarian organisations. Exhibitors within the zone specialise in everything from C4ISTAR, logistics, medical, robotics and satcoms. Companies already confirmed to feature in the zone include: Danish firm Weibel which manufactures Doppler radars, Oshkosh Defense, Teledyne, Gamma Healthcare, Theon Sensors, Milforce Equipment, and 4C Strategies.

Innovation is a vital element in developing the UK’s economic strength, productivity, and competitiveness. The enhanced Zone will also include an Innovation Hub, a new feature for DSEI 2017 which will encourage imagination, ingenuity and entrepreneurship and host companies that are either new to defence or seeking broader exposure in the sector. The Innovation Hub will be supported by techUK, which will be delivering sessions in the seminar programme on cyber defence and security, artificial intelligence and Infor Ops.

Another significant hub within the Joint Zone will be dedicated to medical innovation

Another significant hub within the Joint Zone will be dedicated to medical innovation. Defence and the military has contributed significantly to the development of medical practice and technology.
