Comelit is supplying door entry, access control and intelligent home automation to a luxury residential development in North London.

Sandlewood Close is a prestigious set of apartment blocks in Barnet, constructed by Zahara Developments. The audio-visual and security consultant is Hyde-AV working with Door Entry Direct, a value-added reseller and distribution partner of Comelit, based in Park Royal, North London.

The apartment owners will be using a premium monitor from Comelit’s range, the Icona Manager, to interact with visitors at Ikall entrance panels located on the main gate to the development and at the entrance to each block. The panels feature a colour mini-lens camera and a two-way speaker unit.

Ikall panels are modular to suit the precise needs of each project and at the Barnet site they will include a MIFARE reader from the Comelit SimpleKey access management system with residents using a fob to gain entrance.

Intelligent monitoring demonstrates Comelit’s green credentials

The project will see full deployment of Comelit’s market-leading home automation system, SimpleHome. Also from the same Icona Manager monitor, residents will use SimpleHome to control and programme heating and lighting. They will also receive intelligent monitoring data on electrical consumption, demonstrating Comelit’s commitment to sustainability.

SimpleHome allows precise configuration to suit the individual lifestyles of each apartment owner, with programmable schedules of up to seven days. Residents will be able to create their own ‘scenarios’ or sequences that might include light dimming and graduated heating or cooling of the apartment. They can also create a combined routine of activations and deactivations for common occurrences, such as leaving for work in a hurry.

Remote management

In addition to enabling door entry and home automation, the Icona Manager monitor features a temperature sensor and Micro SD card. The monitor uses touchscreen technology and responds to gesture and ‘swipe’ recognition familiar to anybody using a smart device. All functions on the monitor can be accessed remotely using a Web Interface. Door entry calls can be received on a smart device via the Comelit app for Android and iOS.

John Line, Business Development Manager at Comelit Group UK, said: “Residents at these apartments in North London will be able to use the Icona Manager Monitor to control many aspects of their security provision and environment from a single ergonomic device on a universal platform. Comelit listens carefully to architects and is helping them to achieve their goal of reducing visual clutter in the living space.”

He continued: “Residents in this development will have the full benefit of SimpleHome’s audio distribution. Family members will be able to listen to the same music in all rooms or make their own choices from supply sources that include online streaming services such as Spotify, Internet radio, a USB flash drive or anything that works within DLNA.”
