| The busy university campuses required a flexible surveillance system |
The University of Deusto strengthens its video surveillance system by installing a complete LILIN solution.Founded in 1886, the University of Deusto located on the Spanish coast has become one of the most prestigious University’s in Spain. Comprised of two campuses, Bilbao and San Sebastian, the University is currently home to nearly 10,000 students.
The Bilbao campus covers an area of 350,000 square meters, accomodating the main Univeristy building alongside various libraries and historial monuments. With an existing analogue CCTV system in place that had become difficult to monitor, unreliable and consequently did not meet security requirements, the protection team at Deusto knew it was time to look for a new solution. They knew that the new solution needed to overcome the previous difficulties but also recognised that it must provide additional benefits, namely high definition, flexibility,and simple user operation. From a manufacturers position, the obvious answer would be to shift the site from analogue to IP; numerous advantages would then be experienced.

LILIN cameras were amidst several that endured technical tests by the security team at the Bilbao campus. Amongst the many benefits highlighted throughout the testing, LILIN’s IP range proved to provide great flexibility and integration due to being ONVIF conformant. As the first CCTV manufacturer in the world to release ONVIF compliant IP products, interoperability is no longer an issue for LILIN customers. The open platform offers flexibility, meaning systems can be expanded at any point in the future with ease. The security team admired this element of the LILIN range together with the high definition and easy operation offered. Consequently, LILIN successfully won the project

| The protection team at Deusto knew it was time to look for a new solution |
LILIN specified over 80 cameras and over 10 switches for the project; a combination of high-speed domes, mini domes and external IR cameras were utilized throughout the site. The cameras form part of the LILIN iMEGAPRO range offering high definition, high frame rate recording and stunning performance in low light conditions. The solution consequently allowed the protection team at Deusto to address key areas of risk throughout the day and night via an easy to operate system. The result means better care and enhanced safety has been provided for every student.
The Director of Security for the Institutional Center praised the project and the LILIN solution. The administration, monitoring and scalability of all the equipment provides a manageable system for the campus team. The University of Deusto are already looking towards the next LILIN IP project, the San Sebastian campus. As the University continues to grow, the IP system provided by LILIN will undoubtedly expand; watch this space.
