The Kirton in Lindsey site has experienced problems with attempted break-ins and the manned guarding and barrier system at the entrance to the industrial estate was ineffective.

Gary Millson, Director, approached Dean Bolton of Eyewatch Security to design and install a system to safeguard the thousands of pounds of machinery and diesel stored on site, as he explains: "Although the front entrance was covered by the security guards, the other sides of our site were open to intruders." He says: "A number of times people had tried to steal diesel and our next concern was that the machinery might be taken."

Dean specified a system that comprises 20 VX402 BoundaryGard detectors covering the ramp up to the site, the interior and exterior of the warehouse where the waste is sorted, the diesel tank and the weighbridge. Two BX80N BoundaryGard detectors have been positioned to protect the front and rear of the shed where the plant machinery is stored.

"We are extremely satisfied with the performance of the detectors and are in the process of expanding the system to include cameras."

The system has been in place since August, with alarms relayed to Eyewatch's HQ in Scunthorpe. Barring one incident where youngsters were scared off by Eyewatch Security guards, there have not been any attempts to break in or any false alarms. Gary continues: "The detectors are clearly working as a deterrent as we are experiencing far fewer attempted break-ins," he adds.

"We are extremely satisfied with the performance of the detectors and are in the process of expanding the system to include cameras." Paul Nicholas, Sales Manager for Optex Europe says that the BoundaryGard VX detectors provide reliable external protection before burglars get inside.

"The BX80N creates a multi-layered, horizontal barrier that detects intruders and sounds the alarm before they actually break-in and just one BX-80N can protect an area up to 24m across."
