Counter Terror India 2009, co-located with IFSEC India 2009, provided a one-day conference packed full of practical advice and solutions in the battle against terrorism throughout India. The conference was opened by Mr Don Randall, Head of Security at the Bank of England, who highlighted the need for harmonisation between the public and private sectors. The conference was officially inaugurated by Mr Gopal Pillai, Secretary to Government India at the Ministry of Home, who outlined the government's goals and the emerging terrorist threats. Splitting into two conference streams, delegates then had the opportunity to hear security best practice and case studies surrounding transport and border control and infrastructure and buildings.

Nigel Luke Brown, Project Director at UBM India, organisers of IFSEC India, said: "Now that we are into the third year of IFSEC India, it was vital that we didn't rest on our laurels and made sure that the programme we were delivering was the right one for both our exhibitors and visitors. It is clear to us that this event was a great success from feedback we received from those at the show. We were also delighted with the launches of Internal Security India and Counter Terror Conference which were both packed out for the entire duration of the events and complimented IFSEC India exceptionally well. We look forward to building on our successes next year."

Simon Parker, Group Director for UBM Live, said: "This year's event saw a real ‘step change' for IFSEC India and it is now firmly established as India's leading event for both homeland and commercial security. Visitor increases of 25% don't come that often and we are delighted that the event surpassed our exhibitors' expectations."
