Intersec 2013 grabbed high level of visitors’ interest in the wide range of UK security solutions, from integrated systems to CCTV, perimeter protection and intruder alarm
BSIA's Expert Council states Intersec 2013 saw the highest ever turnout of UK security companies at the event

Members of the British Security Industry Association's Export Council, who exhibited at the recent Intersec 2013 exhibition in Dubai, are reporting a high level of visitor interest in the wide range of innovative UK security solutions, from integrated systems to access control, CCTV, perimeter protection, intruder alarm and power supply technology, on display during this year's show.

The positive experience of member companies at Intersec 2013 was underlined by the results of a post-show survey, conducted by the BSIA's Export Council, which found that, of those questioned, 80% either saw either growth or no change in visitor numbers compared to 2012 - which was in itself a record year - with only 20% experiencing a fall off in attendees.

According to Caroline Strickley, Export Services Executive at the British Security Industry Association (BSIA), which organised the UK Pavilion at Intersec 2013, this year also saw the highest ever turnout of UK security companies at the event: "The strong UK presence reflects the importance of the region and, crucially, the appetite that there is out there for the best of British security solutions. This was reinforced by a recent survey where three quarters of our Export Council members reported that they expect a surge in Middle East business during 2013.”

"The level and quality of enquiries at this year's show - the 15th time the BSIA has exhibited in Dubai - has been promising as our post-show survey underlines and the 'Meet the Buyers' event - where we bring members and prospective customers together – remained popular. Intersec remains the ideal platform for our members to promote their solutions and ranks amongst the most important of the exhibitions we attend worldwide."

Member companies showcasing products and services at Intersec 2013 were asked for their thoughts on the exhibition:

Paul Ramsay, Divisional Director for Export at Norbain - a major distributor of CCTV, IP video, access control and intruder detection equipment - is positive about the event: "This was another great year for us at the Intersec show. It is now one of the best international shows for us to attend."

"The level and quality of enquiries at this year's show - the 15th time the BSIA has exhibited in Dubai - has been promising as our post-show survey underlines..."

Keith Talbot, Director at Detection Technologies Ltd, a provider of perimeter detection solutions, said: "One of our aims was to identify companies capable of supporting our products and services in the Middle East. Although we are in the early stages of these discussions I believe that, with the support of the BSIA and the one-to-one meetings, we will achieve this target."

Ian Moore, Managing Director at Elmdene International Limited, a manufacturer of switch mode power supply units for security and fire applications, noted: "We are delighted with our success at this year's event where we not only had our own stand on the UK Pavilion - alongside other members of the BSIA - but were also on distributor Norbain's booth. Not only was footfall up, which is good in itself, but we were also pleased with the high quality of the visitors that we saw across the three days."

Mark Williams, Business Manager - Security at Remsdaq Ltd - which specialises in access control technology - comments: "We had good quality leads each day of the show."

Stuart Reynolds, International Sales Director at Metham Aviation Design Ltd (MADCCTV), which offers ancillary CCTV equipment, says that there were good business opportunities to be had: "Many existing customers visited our stand resulting in very positive project order opportunities. The main one being a large project in Oman in the second quarter of 2013. New business customers and opportunities were also forthcoming."
