Honeywell has released a new version of its MAXPRO network video recorder (NVR) that incorporates numerous enhancements to make the system interoperable with nearly any surveillance camera or encoder. MAXPRO NVR 2.0 supports ONVIF and PSIA interoperability standards, as well as real-time streaming protocol (RTSP) and features native integration to cameras and encoders from Honeywell and other manufacturers. Additionally, the family now includes a software-only offering that enables users to source their own hardware by loading the MAXPRO NVR 2.0 software onto existing servers, regardless of hardware type. These enhancements give organisations greater flexibility to build customised surveillance systems.

“MAXPRO NVR 2.0 allows organisations to take advantage of advanced IP video capabilities and marks a big step toward open, third-party integration,” said Ulrich Hopfstock, product manager EMEA, Honeywell Security Group. “Integrators and end users want NVR technology that’s interoperable with a wide range of cameras, and MAXPRO NVR 2.0 can be a key to unlocking a truly open system.”

Honeywell’s MAXPRO NVR range includes a box solution that offers 16 to 32 channels and software solutions that range from 4 to 32 channels. Customers who already have the box solution can upgrade to MAXPRO NVR 2.0 using a free download or by requesting a DVD.

Using MAXPRO NVR 2.0, organisations can also view and manage video remotely with devices such as the Apple iPad and iPhone using the free MAXPRO Mobile app.

Aside from NVRs, the MAXPRO range of IP video solutions includes MAXPRO VMS, the company’s flagship video management system that allows organisations to centrally manage all surveillance. There are a wide variety of IP cameras to support the MAXPRO family, including the Performance Series and equip Series.

The company is also launching MAXPRO Viewer, a software application that allows multi-site viewing of Honeywell recorders, and because the technology is based on a single platform, end users only need to learn one system to use the entire range of technology.
