VARIO helps cameras produce superior images at night and generates longer illumination distances |
In a recent independent product test report by Benchmark Magazine, Raytec’s latest lighting development VARIO received 'recommended product status' and a score of 83%, which is the highest score achieved to date for a CCTV illuminator.
Available in both Infra-Red and White-Light versions, VARIO goes above and beyond the expected performance from a standard LED light. With its unique beam spread and hot-spot-reduction technology, VARIO helps cameras produce superior images at night and generates longer illumination distances using less power.
Benchmark reported: “Light quality is very good, and coverage is even, right up to the limits of the range and coverage, and beyond. We’d never advocate exceeding the specified range, but our field trials indicated that a fair bit more is achievable”. “Illumination is consistent with no hot-spots or faded areas. Some illuminators, especially those of a budget persuasion, can give images slightly harsh edges, but this isn’t the case with VARIO”.
With multiple angles available from a single product, VARIO covers most applications and makes the specification process much easier for everyone in the chain. Illumination angles can now be adjusted quickly and easily on site with different interchangeable lens inserts, to ensure the illumination matches the camera’s field of view. “The lenses offer a significant benefit to those fitting the system” and also “simplify stock holding” reports Benchmark.
With set-up from ground level via a hand held remote control, VARIO provides access to a host of advanced lighting settings and makes installation easier, safer, quicker and therefore less costly. Benchmark confirm, “It allows final settings to be tweaked from ground level, which is a plus for both installer and end user as it speeds up the installation” and also “enables a much higher level of control over the unit”.
The unique advantages of VARIO have already been recognised, with the product being shortlisted for two major international awards; Detektor Awards (International) and Security Excellence Awards (UK).
