Messe Essen distinguishes pioneering innovations in the Technology & Products, Services and Fire Protection categories with the Security Innovation Award
14 companies out of the 95 applications will go into the final round for the "Oscar of Security Technology"

An initial preliminary decision about the Innovation Award at the world's premier fair has been taken two months before Security Essen 2014. The expert jury for the Security Innovation Award chose the top candidates from 95 applications. 14 companies will now go into the final round for the "Oscar of Security Technology". Every two years, Messe Essen distinguishes pioneering innovations in the Technology & Products, Services and Fire Protection categories with the Security Innovation Award. In each case, the jury will confer the mark of distinction in Gold, Silver and Bronze.

In 2014, the Security Innovation Award is generating particularly great interest: Messe Essen received 95 applications with innovations which it will be possible to see at the world's premier fair. The Technology & Products category accounted for most applications with 77 submissions while twelve companies put themselves forward as candidates in the Fire Protection category and six exhibitors in the Services category.

Jury for the Security Innovation Award will put the spotlight on people

The 14 top candidates have now cleared the first hurdle. Their submissions convinced the twelve-strong expert jury under the proven leadership of Hermann Feuerlein (longstanding Vice-Chairman and Honorary Member of Bundesverband unabhängiger deutscher Sicherheitsberater und Ingenieure e. V. - BdSI - "Federal Association of Independent German Security Consultants and Engineers") in matters relating to innovation contents, exclusivity characteristics and user benefits. It was not an easy decision for the specialists: They unanimously praised the high quality of the submissions.

The final round of the Security Innovation Award will take place on August 27. Then, the still remaining 14 candidates will present their products and services in front of the expert jury which will subject all the submissions to a critical and demanding selection procedure. In this respect, attention will mainly focus on both the material and ideal value added by an innovation because the Security Innovation Award will put the spotlight, above all, on people (according to Service und Security® by Hermann Feuerlein).

The winners will be announced and honoured at Messe Essen in the evening before Security Essen, i.e. on September 22. Rudi Cerne, presenter of the "Aktenzeichen XY … ungelöst" television series on Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen (ZDF), will once again be the compere for the evening.
