 Magal s3 perimeter security
Magal has won a security contract for the African Football Cup 2012
Magal Security Systems, Ltd. announced that it has signed a $35.5 Million contract for a turnkey project, to provide a fully integrated security system, covering multiple sites, for the African Cup of Nations Football Championship to be held in January 2012 in West Africa.

The vulnerability of sport games, as experienced by the Togo football team terror attack in the 2010 African Cup of Nations, was definitely in the mind of the organisers. Therefore a holistic approach was adapted in which the Olympic arena is protected, rather than the gates only, with a strong emphasis on the perimeters of each site.

The contract includes security coverage of a few football grounds, two stadiums and the Olympic villages.

Magal's comprehensive solution
The full solution will be networked and integrated into several command and control centres by Fortis - Magal's state-of-the-art Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) system. A built-in hierarchical structure will enable control of several smaller centres by a main regional control centre.

Several detection layers will protect the entire perimeter of each site. Barricade II - an innovative fence mounted locating sensor - will be used as a main layer. Additionally multiple surveillance cameras supported by sophisticated IVA (Intelligent Video Analytics) capabilities and hovering surveillance zeppelins will be deployed for enhancing the organisers situation awareness. Various types of gates with access control, X-Ray screening devices, intercom and public announcement systems will complement the full solution.

"We are proud to have been chosen as the main contractor to implement the security and safety solution for this prestigious and globally recognised event. We will leverage our experience in providing similar solutions to customers in more than 80 countries in order to complete this demanding project within a tight timetable" Mr. Livneh concluded.
