Founded in 1989, Beechdean Dairies is a prominent player in the UK's vibrant and diverse ice cream industry. Its unwavering commitment to producing premium dairy ice cream has earned the company a trusted reputation among specialist retail outlets and prestigious high-profile venues nationwide.

In need of addressing pressing security concerns at its Cheshire-based ice cream manufacturing plant, Beechdean Dairies specified Jacksons Fencing to provide a robust and tailored fencing solution.

Perimeter security solution

A secure perimeter is a key consideration for all businesses. Security solutions should always be carefully planned from the outset.

Properly specified fencing and gates will help demonstrate how safe and secure a site is, and this can be reassuring for employees, purchasers, stakeholders, and visitors.

Primary objective

Given the open nature and significance of this facility, maintaining top-tier security is vital to safeguard production

The Cheshire-based food manufacturing plant serves as Beechdean's primary operation base and houses the popular local tourist attraction, The Ice Cream Factory.

Given the open nature and significance of this facility, maintaining top-tier security is vital to safeguard production processes and ensure the integrity of Beechdean’s high-quality dairy ice cream.

Need for a tailored fencing and access solution

Beechdean Dairies collaborated with Jacksons Fencing, a provider of security solutions, to devise a bespoke fencing and access solution tailored to the unique needs of their facility.

The site's former unrestricted layout, where car barriers were the primary means of security, posed potential security risks. Furthermore, insufficient demarcation and fencing towards the back of the site raised concerns regarding unauthorised access and potential breaches.

Securing sweet success

To address these challenges and create a secure environment for employees and guests alike, over 118 metres of 1.8-metre high EuroGuard® Regular fencing was installed.

Offering enhanced anti-climb features with tamper-proof connectors, this form of robust fencing is highly resistant to breaches or scaling attempts. The V mesh design profile and 200 x 50mm apertures of EuroGuard® Regular make it an ideal choice for medium-risk commercial applications.

Two sets of large double-leaf matching gates

The focal point of the installation includes two sets of large double-leaf matching EuroGuard® Regular gates, strategically positioned at the main access points.

Spanning 8 metres and 6 metres respectively, these gates effectively restrict access to the loading areas and car park, while also accommodating delivery supply vehicles with ease.

Matching double gates

Matching single-leaf gates

For pedestrian entry, 5-metre and 1-metre-wide matching single-leaf gates were installed. These gates offer convenient pedestrian access to smaller outside areas, with the 1-metre pedestrian gate designed to open outward for effortless entry.

For added security, the pedestrian gate is equipped with a reliable mechanical keylock, and as with all Jacksons Fencing’s products, they come with a 25-year service life guarantee.

Comprehensive security measures

Peter Jackson, Managing Director, of Jacksons Fencing, comments, “Partnering with Beechdean Dairies, one of the UK’s most reputable dairy producers, and bolstering the security of their manufacturing facility was a privilege for us at Jacksons Fencing. In the critical sector of food manufacturing, where safety is of utmost importance, this opportunity was particularly meaningful."

"Our commitment lies in delivering security solutions of the highest calibre that surpass expectations and guarantee enduring protection. With our comprehensive security measures in place, Beechdean Dairies can rest assured that their facility will be safeguarded for years to come.”
