ASSA ABLOY GreenCircle was established to provide third-party certification of environmental claims that in turn benefit manufacturers, suppliers, and consumers"

ASSA ABLOY and its brands are committed to providing products and services that are environmentally conscious throughout the entire production process and product lifecycle, and value these certifications as well as the standards they set. To become GreenCircle certified, a product or solution goes through a rigorous evaluation process to verify that it has sustainability attributes. The Rockwood products achieved GreenCircle’s Certified Environmental Facts (Multi-Attribute) label. This label details the sustainability attributes of the product as well as the facility where the products are manufactured in order to tell the full sustainability story of the product. The Rockwood products also have EPDs that are third-party certified by UL Environment. EPDs are comprehensive reports that document the environmental impacts of a product throughout its lifecycle.

GreenCircle was established to provide third-party certification of environmental claims that in turn benefit manufacturers, suppliers, regulators, occupants, and consumers,” said Tad Radzinski, Certification Officer, GreenCircle. “Today’s digital age has added new demands for transparency and honesty, and consumers are actively seeking information to substantiate claims made by manufacturers. ASSA ABLOY has long been committed to submitted products for certification and we are pleased to award GreenCircle’s Certified Environmental Facts certification for these Rockwood Products and Glass Solutions.

GreenCircle certification

ASSA ABLOY has many products in its sustainable building solutions portfolio, with over 70 products and multiple manufacturing sites now GreenCircle Certified for various attributes. Not only are the Rockwood products themselves more responsible, they are also manufactured at a facility that has reduced their water and waste and has diverted 77% of their waste from landfill. These factors are also considered and communicated through the product’s EPD. The benefit of an EPD is the life cycle data contained within, which provides a benchmark used to optimise future versions of the product.

At ASSA ABLOY we look beyond products that minimise energy use,” said Catelyn Herman, Product Manager – Rockwood Products, ASSA ABLOY. “We also look to manufacture our products with sustainable production methods and then share that distinction with our customers, so they know they are not only investing in an aesthetic and high-quality product, but also one that was made in an environmentally conscious way.
