Airbus Defence and Space welcomes Fred Gallart as new Head of Latin America at Secure Land Communications

Based on a strong track record in Professional Mobile Radio, Airbus Defence and Space will develop existing and new business in the region

Refocusing growth strategy for Latin America

In the course of refocusing its strategy and reinforcing its presence in Latin America, Airbus Defence and Space announces the appointment of Fred Gallart as the new Head of Sales and Program Delivery for Latin America at Secure Land Communications. He will be the regional manager for all sales and service activities in the field of Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) technology in Central and South America. Moreover, he oversees around 90 employees in the offices of Secure Land Communications in Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro. Fred Gallart will report to the Head of Secure Land Communications at Airbus Defence and Space, Olivier Koczan.

“Relying on our installed networks, mainly in Mexico but also in Brazil, we intend to further enlarge our footprint in Latin America; and we can accomplish this. The technical turning point that we are now reaching towards broadband will bring new opportunities on top of our Tetra and Tetrapol offering,” says Olivier Koczan. ”I am convinced that Fred Gallart will successfully carry out this mission due to his experience.”

Fulfiling public safety solutions

Since the late 1980s, Airbus Defence and Space has predominantly taken orders from state institutions in Latin America, such as national and regional governments. Airbus Defence and Space installed the nationwide network Interconexión de Redes Integrales de Seguridad Pública (IRIS) used by the Mexican security forces. It provides secure voice and data services and has been in operation since 1999. Furthermore, the federal police in Brazil uses the National Integrated Radio Communication Network, installed and currently upgraded by Airbus Defence and Space.

“Our growth strategy in Latin America coincides with an increasing demand for reliable Public Safety Solutions in Latin America. Our Mission Critical Public Safety Solutions in Tetra, Tetrapol and broadband meet the market needs perfectly,” Fred Gallart says. He has almost 30 years of exceptional experience in the area of PMR and has held top management positions in Mexico, Brazil and the United States. Before joining Airbus Defence and Space, he had engagements with companies such as Motorola, Harris Corporation and Embratel.
